La Vuelta 24
On August 23, 2024, Archidona experienced a historic moment as it became, for the first time, the starting point of a stage of the Vuelta a España. The seventh stage, featuring a medium mountain profile, covered 179 kilometers to Córdoba. The neutralized start took place in the center of Archidona at 1:10 p.m., in an event that attracted numerous fans and was broadcast internationally, showcasing the city’s cultural and natural heritage.
The climbing areas are concentrated around the Sierra de Archidona and, more specifically, around the Cueva de las Grajas. Both inside the cave itself and on the limestone wall located behind this elevation—specifically in the area known as Puerta de la Hoya—you’ll find climbing routes that will appeal to enthusiasts of the sport.
Access to the pointed summit of Las Grajas begins at the Molino de Don Juan and the municipal swimming pool. Following the Puerta de la Hoya trail, you turn onto the Cueva de las Grajas path, which encircles the entire mountain range. The Puerta de la Hoya trail also provides access to the back of the cave and the climbing routes found there.
