Aquí se describen dos posibles rutas que se pueden realizar en el entorno de la Sierra de Archidona.
La primera de ellas nos permite recorrer la Sierra de Archidona, que comprende: la sierra de la Virgen de Gracia, el Pico del Conjuro y la sierra de las Grajas. La dificultad de realización de esta es media-alta; ya que la parte inicial de la ruta no supone apenas dificultad, pero la parte del recorrido realizada por el Pico del Conjuro y, sobre todo, por la sierra de las Grajas si supone un esfuerzo mayor. Por lo complicado de este último tramo, una opción factible es la realización de la ruta saltándose esta parte del recorrido. Al bajar del Pico del Conjuro podemos coger el carril de tierra que nos llevara a la Puerta de la Hoya, donde podemos retomar la ruta hasta llegar al punto final.
La ruta comienza en el casco urbano, en la Plaza de la Victoria, y el primer tramo comprende la subida a la sierra de la Virgen de Gracia. Cuando iniciamos la ascensión por el Camino del Santuario tenemos dos opciones posibles: continuar por este hasta llegar al mirador del Santo Cristo o llegar a este mediante un sendero que nos encontraremos a la izquierda del camino, donde cruzando un puente podremos seguir un camino que nos lleva hasta el mirador. Una vez en el mirador, continuaremos por el Camino del Santuario hasta encontrar el camino de la Puerta de la Ciudad que nos llevará hasta la parte alta de la sierra bordeando las murallas. Una vez llegamos a la cima, podremos visitar el Santuario de la Virgen de Gracia.
La segunda parte de la ruta comienza cuando dejamos atrás el Santuario y cruzamos la segunda Puerta de la Ciudad (Puerta del Sol), dirigiéndonos al Pico del Conjuro. En esta parte ascenderemos hasta alcanzar la cima del Conjuro. Luego continuaremos cresteando la sierra hasta que en la última parte de esta descenderemos encontrándonos con un carril de tierra. En este punto, podemos continuar la ruta o volver por el camino que nos encontramos hasta la Puerta de la Hoya.
La última parte de la ruta comienza cuando dejamos atrás la sierra del Conjuro y nos adentramos en la sierra de las Grajas. Iremos cresteando la sierra hasta alcanzar la base del peñón de la Cueva de las Grajas. Para los más aventureros, existe la posibilidad de subir al peñón, aunque resulta dificultoso por encontrarnos con ciertas zonas en las que será necesario trepar-escalar para completar el recorrido. Una vez se realiza la bajada, nos encontraremos con la Cueva de las Grajas y, después de disfrutar de esta maravilla de la naturaleza, ya podemos volver al casco urbano continuando el recorrido hasta el punto donde lo iniciamos.
La segunda ruta que aparece marcada en el mapa de la parte inferior de la página comienza también en la Plaza de la Victoria, pero esta nos lleva a la zona del Polígono Industrial, desde donde tomaremos el camino Fuente Sacristán hasta que acaba el propio Polígono. En este punto, en vez de continuar por este camino, nos desviaremos a la izquierda y tomaremos un camino que va bordeando la sierra hasta llegar a un punto donde el camino se vuelve a dividir. Entonces, seguiremos por el camino de la izquierda y a unos metros, cerca de la Era de la Casilla Claveles, nos adentraremos en un sendero a nuestra izquierda que asciende por la sierra. Continuaremos por el sendero que nos ofrece esta sierra hasta llegar a una zona de cultivo de olivar, que iremos bordeando hasta llegar al Cortijo del Chopillo (actualmente en ruinas); en esta zona podremos observar los restos del antiguo recinto amurallado de la ciudad. Un poco más adelante, la ruta engancha con la ruta anteriormente descrita, y avanza en sentido contrario de esta por el Conjuro hasta llegar a la Sierra de la Virgen de Gracia, desde donde volveremos al punto de inicio de la ruta.
Here are described two different routes that can be performed in the environment of the Sierra de Archidona.
The first one enables us to traverse the Sierra de Archidona and includes: Sierra de la Virgen de Gracia, Pico del Conjuro and Sierra de Las Grajas. The level of difficulty is medium-high, since the early part of the route has barely any complication; however, the section of Pico del Conjuro and, specially, Sierra de Las Grajas, requires a considerable effort. Due to the complications of the latter part, a more feasible option is to perform the route skipping this section. After descending the Pico del Conjuro, we can take the dirt track that leads us to the Puerta de la Hoya, from where we can take up the itinerary until the final point.
The route starts in the urban centre, at the Plaza de la Victoria. The first section contains the ascending to the Sierra de la Virgen de Gracia. When starting the way up by the Camino del Santuario, we have two different choices: to go across this very way up to the viewpoint of the Santo Cristo, or to reach it through a pathway located on the left, where we will span a bridge and follow a path that steers to the viewpoint. Once there, we continue through the Camino del Santuario until we find the way to the Puerta de la Ciudad, which leads us to the top of the mountains by bordering the walls. After we have reached the summit, we can visit the Santuario de la Virgen de Gracia.
The second stage of the route starts after we leave the sanctuary behind and we cross the second Puerta de la Ciudad (Puerta del Sol), heading to the Pico del Conjuro. In this section, we will climb until reaching the summit of El Conjuro. Afterwards, we will carry on climbing the mountains until the final part, where we start going down and will find a dirt track. At this point we can choose between following the itinerary or going all the way back to the Puerta de la Hoya.
The final section of the route starts when we move away from the Sierra del Conjuro and enter the Sierra de Las Grajas. We will go climbing the mountains until reaching the bottom of the crag of the Cueva de Las Grajas. For the most daring mountaineers, it is possible to climb the crag, but it may be tough because we will encounter certain spots in which we will have to go creeping and climbing to complete the itinerary. Once we have descended, we find the Cueva de Las Grajas. After enjoying this wonder of nature, we can go back to the urban centre and pick up the route up to the starting point.
The second route marked on the map below also starts at the Plaza de la Victoria, but this one takes us to the Industrial Site, from where we will take the path Fuente Sacristán until the end of the zone. At this point, instead of following this way, we stray to the left and go across a path that borders the mountain range until getting to a spot where the path splits once again. Then we take the path on the left and a few metres away, near the Era de la Casilla Claveles, we will go into a pathway on the left that goes up to the mountains. Through the path located in this range, we arrive to an area of olive tree crops, that we will border until we get to the Cortijo del Chopillo (now in ruins). In this site we can watch the remains of the town’s old walled enclosure. A little further, this route hooks up with the previously described one and goes ahead on the opposite direction through El Conjuro until reaching the Sierra de la Virgen de Gracia, from where we return to the starting point of the route.
